Travels in South America
Cusco, Peru
The courtyard of a hotel I stayed at in Cusco, Peru many years ago. Every morning I would have breakfast in this peaceful spot before heading out for the day, fueled with bread and fruit and mate. I love the freedom (from perfection) that sketching directly with watercolour brings. Watercolour on paper.
Conception, Chile
Sketching directly with watercolour forces me to edit as I go and helps me to let go of focusing on detail. It brings a lovely sense of freedom and acceptance. In this case, it helped me find the beauty in my rather basic accommodation.
