My marine invertebrate ABCs
Illustrations featuring a selection of both familiar and unfamiliar marine invertebrates—one for each letter of the alphabet. Aimed at young children learning to read, and intended for a book and/or wall poster series (as yet unpublished).
Some of these creatures are easy to spot in the intertidal zone, for example, and some may have only been seen in person—or even heard of—by a few people. I believe that including more than just the most familiar, easily recognisable creatures can help young children develop an interest in and love of the marine world. One is never too young (or too old) to be introduced to the huge diversity of life on our planet.
