Madagascar ragwort
A field study of a plant I identified as Madagascar ragwort (Senecio madagarscariensis), a pastural pest in Australia. Collected and sketched on a school field trip several years ago.
Charcoal on paper.

Jerusalem cherry
A little field study of a weed from my local area, which I have identified as 'Jerusalem cherry' (Solanum pseudocapsicum), another member of the nightshade (Solanaceae) family (tomatoes, capsicums, etc.). I really enjoy getting up close to plants (and animals) and seeing what defines them. Even the typically unwanted ones. Sketching them is the best way I know to get to know them.
Watercolour over pencil on paper.
